I volunteer because…
Our volunteers have many compelling personal reasons for wanting to help Hospice serve the palliative care needs of terminally ill people and their families.
In their own words, why they volunteer:
“When my mother was a resident our family could not believe how compassionate, understanding, caring everyone was — and that home baking! You felt like you were all part of a family. After that experience I decided once I retire I want to be part of this wonderful family too. They just cannot do enough for you and your family member.”
“Why do I volunteer at Hospice Renfrew? Because I feel that being a calming and caring presence for someone who is terminally ill — as well as their family — is important. It’s one way to give back to our community and in doing so it makes me feel great that I can do something so worthwhile for someone else. And the personal sense of satisfaction — though unexpected at the beginning — is huge!”
“After witnessing firsthand the wonderful and caring treatment mom received during her stay at Hospice, I feel compelled to be part of this special facility.”
