Hospice Renfrew Mission Statement
To assist terminally ill individuals to live as fully as possible while maintaining their dignity and comfort, as well as providing support to family and friends.
Purpose:
The purpose of Hospice Renfrew is to provide
and maintain a freestanding residential hospice to serve the
Palliative care needs of terminally ill people and their families
in the community of Renfrew and surrounding municipalities.
Those who choose hospice care have made the decision along with their family and doctor, to replace cure goals with comfort or palliative goals.
The services offered at Hospice Renfrew focus on the individual rather than the disease, giving families respite from the extraordinary challenges of providing ongoing care to a loved one.
Care will be provided free of charge, with sensitivity to gender, race, creed, and religion.
Objectives:
- To provide pain and symptom management;
- To improve the quality of life for people
with advanced disease and their families, through the relief
of concerns whether physical, emotional, social, or spiritual;
- To preserve the quality of life, dignity,
and independence of the patient;
- To support family wellness and community
involvement;
- To affirm life and regard death as a
normal process and neither hasten or postpone death;
- To assist the bereaved in dealing with
their grief;
- To respect and work with all other disciplines
and agencies, encouraging, through education and good communication,
a wider knowledge base of palliative care
"I am very pleased by the way my mom was taken care of. As well as us her family,
the staff was kind and loving. I thank you for making her last hours so comfortable."
