After attending an introductory seminar on caring for the terminally ill, Edie Westbrook volunteered to lead a community-driven volunteer effort to make progressive palliative care a reality in our region.

Prepared with palliative care education and training, volunteers were matched with terminally ill people in our community.

The Palliative Care Program was launched!

1995
The Palliative Care Program has grown and is embraced across our region. The program is based at Renfrew Victoria Hospital with a part-time coordinator.

Today
The Palliative Care Team sees the creation of a residential hospice as an important addition to services available to terminally ill people and their families.
